Hocus Pocus

Today back in 1993, 22 years ago, Hocus Pocus was released! It is one of my favourite Disney movies, and of course, one of my favourite Halloween films. When my mum rented it on video, we watched it all weekend! I was never in to scary movies as a kid. I was the kid that suffered with bad dreams. So it was great to finally have a film to watch at Halloween, that wouldn’t frighten me, but instead, made me laugh. I can watch scary movies now, not that I think they are scary, more “that would never happen”.
Hocus-Pocus-Sequel-to-Be-Produced-by-Tina-Fey-1024x685Hocus Pocus is the story about three witch sisters, who are resurrected, in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween night. It’s up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches reign of terror once and for all! There is also a lot of adult humour, a couple of songs, and few spells. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star as the famous three witch sisters. Omri Katz plays Max, one of the teenagers, who you will know if, like me, you watched Eerie, Indiana! (brings back memories). And the young girl is played by Thora Birch, who starred in American Beauty.
hocuspocusI can’t believe it’s been 22 years already. Alot of the movies that we rented on video when we were kids, are now 20 and even over 20 years old. However, it shows just how good some of them were, as they are still loved today, and younger children are now becoming fans. And if you or you know anyone who hasn’t watched this film, it is a must watch! Bette Midler herself, said in interview with BBC, that this was her favourite to film.

Bette Midler has even been on twitter this week, expressing her disappointment at Hocus Pocus sequel being delayed:
