Star Wars – Episode V

You can see my passion for the saga, the brand that is Star Wars. And I already made the point of it representing my childhood. A New Hope I watched over and over again, because that was the one I had on video. But, Empire Strikes Back is probably the best one out of the original trilogy. Like The Twin Towers, from The Lord of The Rings trilogy, and Terminator 2 judgement day. The first episodes or movies were the introduction to the characters and the basis of the story. Although George Lucas originally only planned for one movie, Star Wars, now known as A New Hope.
handkissesleiaonheadThe “sequel” or in this case, the 5th episode has all the action. And it leaves us with a cliffhanger. Making us, the viewers wanting more, looking forward to the third film, the end of the trilogy.
Empire Strikes Back, starts off on the famous planet covered in snow, Hoth. A favourite amongst fans. We see the rebellion in action, still fighting against the Empire after the end of A New Hope. The gang is barely still together fighting along side the rebellion.
Han and Leia clearly have feelings for each other, but are in denial about them, well Leia is. They are like a pair of young teenagers. But it’s comical. Also, Han is torn with wanting to escape and get further away from Jabba the hut from finding him, but at the same time, he wants to help his friends. He knows they need him.

Luke wants to learn more about the Force and finish the training he started with Obi-Wan. He leaves his friends to find a great Jedi Master, YODA! When I was a kid I loved Yoda, and I watched Empire Strikes Back just to see him.
yodaandlukeAs well as a planet covered in snow, we visit a city in the clouds, and meet an old friend of Han’s, Lando. This gives us a very small idea of Han’s background, and introduces a great character, with similar issues to Han.
Episode 5 introduces another character, who becomes a fan favourite and a bit of a legend. Bobby Fet, the bounty hunter became instantly popular among fans. We couldn’t wait to see him in the next movie. He is sent by Jabba the Hut to find and capture Han Solo.
bobbafettanddarthvaderDarth Vader steals the movie for me. He really shows his dark side in this film when he has bribed Lando into giving up Han and Leia. He is not overshadowed by another villain, like in A New Hope with General Tark. Plus, we hear is theme music for the first too. And we also have the iconic scene with Luke Skywalker, an epic lightsaber battle between good and evil. The Dark side versus the Light side.
And even if you aren’t a fan, you know a very important line is said in this film that made every fan shout “noooooo” after the first time they heard it….
“Luke, I am your father!”
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
Yes, Empire Strikes Back gives us the best cliffhanger in a movie ever! The Villain is the father of the hero. Oh and Luke also loses his hand, thanks to his dad!
lukeanddarthvader2So yeah this film is epic! And if you haven’t seen it, you should! It’s full of action, and a much stronger story, with all of our fav characters. Or may be you have seen it it didn’t like it, but that would mean you are wrong lol – Just kidding, although I want to hear your thoughts, so leave a comment or tweet me, whatever.

  1. Your Star Wars posts always fill me with joy Jamie! Empire Strikes Back is so good and there is tons of action and as you said, it’s so nice to see the storyline progressing and the characters coming into their own, and I love the banter between Leia and Han too. – Tasha
