Ok so there is a blog post circulating among Disney fans and bloggers, and it’s called “Adults who like Disney need to grow up!”. Now at first I didn’t want to read the post, because I didn’t want this post to be more successful than it already was. However I thought, well, she is a writer, who is entitled to her own opinion, and despite not agreeing AT ALL with her post, it’s good to read a different perspective.
The post in question came to my attention via the anger from fellow Disney fans who are adults, and were obviously upset with what they had read. And clearly disagreed with the post.
Weirdly enough, if you try to google “Adults who like Disney need to grow up” you will find a lot more results on blog posts saying the opposite, and encouraging adults to be more open with their passion for the brand.
We shouldn’t be told we need to “grow up” based on what we love and what we’re passionate about.
I’ll be 32 years old on my birthday, and I am very passionate about Disney, and I am not embarrassed by it, nor will I feel embarrassed by it by anyone. It’s part of who I am. Most people know me for it, and Im that friend they know they can ask about Disney, and I love it.
Personally I’d feel more embarrassed to admit I watch and love The Kardashians, but that’s just me.
But at the end of the day, while you’re alone watching Grease 2, singing along with Michelle Phiefer, waiting for your “Greaser”, I’ve got on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, singing “M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E”, dancing around the coffee table with the Hubby and our two boys!
